Frequently Asked Questions

When will I receive my order?

Orders are shipped within 1 to 7 days. Within the Netherlands, the transit time is 1 to 2 days. If you need your jewelry by a specific date, please put this in the order note or contact me. I will then let you know what is possible, so that you can be sure that your package will be shipped on time.

If you order something via backorder, this means that the jewelry still has to be made. You can also count on your package being shipped within a week.

I want to send my order as a gift. Is that possible?

All orders are beautifully and sustainably packaged and are a gift to unwrap!

Would you like your order to be extra festively wrapped, for example with a handwritten greeting? I would be happy to do that for you.

Please provide your message as a comment with your order and also whether the delivery address is yours or the recipient's. Then your order will be wrapped extra festively.

Does Stonestreet also have a physical store?

Stonestreet currently has no physical store. If you would like to admire the jewelry in real life, you can visit one of the stores or markets or contact us via the contact form . Subscribe to the newsletter to stay informed about events where Stonestreet is present.

Ear climbers: left, right, a pair? Does it matter?

Yes. Because each ear climber is handmade, there may be small differences between the ear climbers. When you order 'a pair', I make sure that the ear climbers are nicely mirrored to each other. Do you want to wear one ear climber? Then choose 'left' or 'right'. You can wear 'left' in your right ear, but then it is upside down.

How do I put in an ear climber?

  • Insert it like a normal earring.
  • Push the ear climber back horizontally.
  • Squeeze it gently so that it fits firmly but comfortably around your ear.

Or watch this video to see how it's done.

What materials are used and how do I best maintain them?

Maintenance

The jewelry is made of durable materials to enjoy for a long time. Gemstones, pearls and some metals are sensitive to chemicals and their environment. The jewelry will stay beautiful even longer if you take good care of it.

How do you do that?

  • Avoid contact with chemicals such as those found in cosmetics and cleaning products.
  • It is best not to wear jewelry while exercising or showering or bathing.
  • When you are not wearing the jewelry, you can store it in the supplied bag or box, preferably in a cool, dark place.
  • Silver oxidizes over time and other jewelry can also become dull over time. You can make almost all jewelry shine again with a soft (silver) polishing cloth. Gemstones can be carefully polished with a soft cloth or brush.

Cleaning and charging

There are many natural ways to discharge and recharge your gemstones: sunlight, moonlight, air, water, earth and fire. Not all methods are safe for all stones: some stones fade in bright sunlight or are damaged by water or heat.

For jewelry, an abalone or paua shell is very suitable: you place a layer of hematite stones (discharge) or rock crystal (mildly cleansing and charging). Placing the jewelry on a selenite stone overnight is also a suitable way of cleaning and charging for all stones.

Materials

Silver

Stonestreet uses 925 sterling silver. This means that the material consists of 92.5% pure silver. Silver is a soft and fragile material. The remaining 7.5% consists of a stronger metal and is needed to make the material wearable and durable. Silver oxidizes over time. You can make your jewelry shine again with a dry (silver) polishing cloth.

Gold filled

Gold filled is the best alternative to solid gold and has a soft golden color. By combining intense heat and pressure, a layer of gold is permanently bonded to the base metal. So you don't have to worry about a color layer that wears away. Because the gold layer is so thick, the material is suitable for sensitive skin. Stonestreet works with gold filled material in gold and rose.

Stainless steel

Stainless steel, stainless steel or stainless steel is known for its strength and as a hypoallergenic material. Stainless steel is well tolerated by people who are hypersensitive to certain metals. Stonestreet works with stainless steel in steel color, silver and gold. The chance of discoloration is very small. With 'IP gold plated' a gold layer is applied with a special technology in a vacuum, which makes the gold layer stronger, more scratch-resistant and remains beautiful longer than with regular gold plating.

Chlorine can affect the 'skin' of stainless steel. To enjoy your jewelry longer, avoid contact with chlorinated water and other chemicals, such as in cosmetic products.

Aluminum

The advantage of aluminum is that it does not discolor during daily activities and that it is incredibly light in weight! The material is soft and therefore easy to work with. To strengthen the shape of the jewelry, Stonestreet hammers and tumbles it. This preserves the beautiful shape. The shape can be bent by pulling and pushing, but this can also be easily bent back by the processing. With normal use, this is not a problem and you can enjoy your jewelry endlessly.

Learn

Upcycled leather and imitation leather are used for the leaf earrings and bag charms. These are small pieces that come from small entrepreneurs in the area. Stonestreet jewelry and bag charms are made from the pieces that are too small to make a bench or bag from. The material is thus removed from the waste stream. This also means that the colors cannot be reordered.

Gemstones and minerals

To enjoy your jewelry with stones for a long time, you should handle it with care. Chlorine, lime and cosmetics can affect stones. One stone is more sensitive to this than the other. Some gemstones can be cleaned well with water, others cannot tolerate water, such as Lapis Lazuli and Turquoise. There are many different ways to clean and charge stones. Here too, not every method is suitable for every stone. Some stones discolour due to too much sunlight. A safe way to de- and charge for each stone is to use other gemstones. Products to clean and charge your stones are available in the webshop.

Gemstones are the treasures of the earth and they come from all over the world. There is currently a high demand for gemstones and it is often difficult to trace where the stones come from and under what conditions they were mined. Fortunately, the demand for ethically mined stones is growing, which is encouraging the industry to be more transparent. Stonestreet strives to only work with ethically responsible, traceable stones.
